Tanzania is participating in the International Sesame and Peanut Conference which this year is being held in Istanbul, Turkey from 5-7 September 2025. The conference includes countries that grow Sesame and Peanut crops, buyers and manufacturers of agricultural equipment. At the Forum, the Tanzanian delegation is led by Mr. Sempeho Manongi, Director of Trade Development in the Ministry of Industry and Trade, who is accompanied by participants from the Cereals and Mixed Crops Authority (COPRA), Warehouse Receipts Management Board (WRRB), Cooperative Development Commission (TCDC) and Tanzania Commodity Exchange (TMX). The delegation has explained the various steps taken by the Government in bringing reforms in the production of Sesame and other crops to boost the economy of farmers and the country as a whole. The delegation also participated in discussions and sideline meetings with various companies with the aim of developing a marketing network and inviting investors and buyers to buy products from Tanzania. Recognizing the economic importance of sesame farming, the delegation held discussions with various participants including companies and traders from various countries with the aim of learning, exchanging experiences and attracting investors, purchasing farmers' produce and increasing productivity in the value chain in crop production. According to statistics, Tanzania produces approximately 300,000 tons of sesame, a figure that is expected to continue to increase. Overall, Tanzania's participation in the forum has provided an opportunity to continue to bid for the international agricultural sector, especially by meeting new buyers and companies intending to invest, which will increase sesame exports and national income, while improving the situation of our farmers. It is clear that our country's participation in the Conference and the contribution of the Tanzanian Embassy in Turkey in coordinating and facilitating the visit is a continuation of the implementation of Government strategies, especially economic diplomacy in bringing productivity and competitiveness to strategic sectors including agriculture through cooperation with other nations.
