  • Impact of rain-soaked sesame farmers

    Aug 11th, 2022

Kudalur: Incessant rains at the time of harvesting reduced the supply of sesame. So the farmers are worried. More than 500 acres of sesame are cultivated in Kudalur Kaldhaimedu, Perumal Temple, Kanchimatura, Konkachipparai etc. It has been harvested for the past few days as it has yielded well. Due to continuous rains, it was not possible to store the harvested sesame safely. Due to this, it became impossible to separate the sesame seeds from the plant by getting wet all over. And in many agricultural lands, harvesting was hampered by the rains even though they were ripe. Even though the price is above Rs 10,000 per quintal, the farmers are worried due to very low supply.
