    Sesame seeds have become expensive during the festive season. Due to the heavy rains in Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, sesame cultivation has been affected and sesame traders have expressed the possibility of reduction in the production of sesame this season. In the last two to three months, the price of sesame in the retail market has increased by Rs 50 to Rs 60 per kg. Sesame season starts in the month of October. Then the season starts from October to December. Sesame seeds are in good demand from Diwali to Sankranti. Rains in Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh have affected sesame cultivation. Sesame seeds are cultivated on a large scale in four states namely Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat and Uttar Pradesh. Generally, three and a half lakh tons of sesame seeds are produced in a season. White sesame is cultivated in Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh. Kisan Tanna, director of Shree Tirupati Brokers, a sesame trader in Rajkot, Gujarat, said that both white and black sesame seeds are cultivated in Gujarat, Rajasthan. Sesame seeds are exported from India to Europe, Gulf countries, China, Taiwan, Korea, USA. Due to the heavy rains in Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh this year, the harvested sesame has suffered a lot. Sesame export deals with foreign countries have started. This year, the production of sesame is likely to decrease. There is a huge demand for Indian sesame seeds abroad. White and black sesame seeds from India are in great demand abroad. They were used for bakery products. Meanwhile, sesamum traders said that the price of one kg of sesame seeds is Rs. 190 to Rs. 200 in Karakol market.Sesame seeds have been damaged due to heavy rains in Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh. Therefore, the production is likely to decrease this year.
