Farmers in Saurashtra, Kutch and North Gujarat are preparing to plant summer sesame seeds. It is imperative to plant sesame seeds in the first fortnight of February. Also summer sesame is more produced than monsoon sesame. Abhishek Gondaliya, Amreli: Gujarat tops the list of sesame growing states. Sesame is a short-term crop. Sesame can be grown successfully as main crop, mixed crop and intercrop. But in Saurashtra, Kutch and North Gujarat, where irrigation facilities are available, there has been an increase in summer sesame cultivation in the last few years. Sesame production doubles in summer The official of Krishi Vigyan Kendra said that the production of summer sesame is about one and a half to twice as much as that of monsoon sesame. Because all farming activities can be done at the right time in summer season. Apart from this, due to favorable factors like favorable temperature in summer , more hours of sunlight , high rate of photosynthesis etc. and less and less pest infestation, oil production is higher in summer season .
