  • IOPEPC estimates the groundnut crop in the country at 68.30 lakh tonnes and sesame at 2.62 lakh tonnes.

    The fourth Global Oilseeds Conference IGOC 2022 was recently held in Dubai by the Indian Oilseeds and Produce Export Promotion Council (IOPEPC) under the Ministry of Commerce, Government of India. In this meeting, the organization estimated groundnut crop in the country at 68.30 lakh tonnes and sesame crop estimate at 2.62 lakh tonnes in Kharif season. The Council also released a coffee table information book, compiled with the support of scientists from ICAR - Indian Institute of Oilseeds Research, Hyderabad and Project Coordinator, AICRP Sesame and Niger, Jabalpur. Nilesh Veera, Chairman of the Council said that the fourth edition of IGOC organized in Dubai in 2019 was a complete success, with many international and Indian participants participating in the event and a lot of productive information was exchanged among all. Groundnut crop was 28.14 lakh tonnes in Gujarat, 17.21 lakh tonnes in Rajasthan, 4.73 lakh tonnes in Karnataka, 6.53 lakh tonnes in Madhya Pradesh, 1.76 lakh tonnes in Maharashtra, 2.17 lakh tonnes in Andhra Pradesh and 1.1 lakh tonnes in Uttar Pradesh. 04 lakh tonnes is estimated to be produced. Similarly, production of sesame is estimated to be 63 thousand tons in Rajasthan, 63.58 thousand tons in Madhya Pradesh, 68.08 lakh tons in Uttar Pradesh and 26 thousand tons in Gujarat.
